Conclusion
The
electronics industry is making steady progress toward developing
lead-free assembly processes to meet the EU's Restriction on Hazardous
Substances (RoHS) directive, which calls for the elimination of
lead and other hazardous substances from new electrical and electronic
equipment by July 2006. To date, industry efforts have concentrated
on finding a lead-free replacement for the commonly used tin-lead
(SnPb) solder and proving the replacement's reliability.
To date, the industry push is to develop soldering processes. It
is now time for companies experienced in lead-free processes to
address the additional needs of the assembly community, which includes
standards that can be used on a day-to-day basis on the factory
floor and throughout the supply chain.
Prosoyo Technology Ltd, has been on the forefront of manufacturing
environmentally friendly products all its life and will continue
its policy to provide leading edge technology that is most energy
efficient and least burdensome to the environment.
By July 2006, companies doing business with European Union Member
States will be required to comply with laws regarding the reduction
of hazardous substances and the proper disposal of electronics waste.
Late adopters of leadfree technology will risk inventory obsolescence,
may experience their products being rejected at borders, and will
be at high risk for loss of market share.
Prosoyo is providing its customers leadership on these issues
with a lead free roadmap and lead free program. We are committed
to being a lead free manufacturer by Q3 2005, and to helping our
customers also be lead free in a timely manner.
